Supervision of Supervision
I am also committed to supporting the development of Emotionally Focused Couples Supervisors, helping them develop their EFT approach to supervision and working with them on specific issues and challenges. I work with both candidate supervisors and certified supervisors.
While the overall formula for supporting supervisees’ development is essentially the same, what each person needs, in any particular session, varies and so what I offer varies greatly or subtly. This individual and collaborative approach mirrors the way that we work with clients in EFT – having a clear idea of the map but each person and couple making their unique journey.
Supervisees are encouraged to bring brief recordings of sessions for us to listen to and discuss. It is only recordings that can give us a true insight into what happened. I check out what supervisees want from playing a recording and ensure that I offer praise and encouragement of the work as well as exploring areas for growth and development.
Sessions are usually held via Zoom and are held as frequently as the supervisee wants. Sometimes sessions are monthly but, more commonly, they are every few months.
*All candidate supervisors must have a minimum of 10 hours of mentorship/supervision between 2 Certified EFT Supervisors/Trainers for certification.
